Meet the winner

Kayel Tyre Retread

Kayel Tyre Retread, based in Malaysia, claims a position as South East Asia’s largest retreader, selling its products across Asia and Australia. The company, which has the capacity to manufacture 1000 pre-cured retreads per day, has made major investments in state-of-the-art machinery and RFID tracking in recent years. Kayel operates the offtake for 2 of the top 5 tyre manufacturers in the world and is currently in the process of obtaining UNECE R109 certification, which, if achieved, will make it the first retread organisation in Asia to obtain an E-mark for its products.

Meet The Nominees

Mega Treads

Mega Treads, based in Caledon in South Africa’s Western Cape, is an established Bandag retreader and was the winner of Bandag SA’s Manufacturing Excellence Award in 2019, having successfully passed two productions and quality audits for the year.

Sumerel Tire

Sumerel Tire Service, based in Newport, KY, is a long established commercial tyre dealer and retreader. The company utilises the AcuTread mould cure system, which the company was instrumental in designing, as well as owning two further pre-cured retreading businesses in Ohio and Tennessee respectively.

Unigoma

Unigoma, established in 1932 is a Vipal retreader based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The owner, Esteban Rappazzo is President of the Argentinian Retreaders Association and has been a leading contributor to furthering the cause of retreading in Argentina and has invested recently in upgrading his plant.

Yashina

Yashina is a Ukrainian tyre retreader, which has 20 years’ experience in the market, during which time the company has expanded into a medium sized operation. The company has been nominated due to its quality-oriented approach to the sector.
