      Meet The Winner

      Marangoni

The Italian company is a vertically integrated company supplier retreading technology and rubber products for retreaders as well as direct retreading services in the truck and OTR sector. The company is now focusing heavily on its role within and contribution to the Circular Economy.

      Meet The Nominees

      AZUR Network

The AZUR Network, which comes under the umbrella of the WdK (German Rubber Industry Association) is an innovation forum for scrap tyre recycling. Of key importance is a project to research ways to promote the eco-potential of retreaded tyres.

      Continental

Continental has been nominated for innovative GreenConcept tyre launched at the recent IAA Mobility event in Munich. This was a conceptual study which leverages both current and emerging technological approaches to the engineering of sustainable passenger tyres. The concept is one of the first signs that the tyre manufacturing sector is now beginning to take seriously the sustainability credentials of passenger tyre retreading.

      Kal Tire

The Canadian owned OTR/Mining tyre retreader has focused heavily on its role within the circular economy in recent years. Key reasons for this nomination are the company’s new OTR recycling facility in Chile and the company’s Maple Program, which provides actual data on oil and carbon emissions saved when mines retread tyres compared to buying new.

      SustrendLab

A Chilean technology company, whose raison d’etre is to rethink the way waste is used. The company, part of the Dosandar Group of companies, which includes the Chilean retreader INSAMAR, is focused on creating innovation uses for scrap tyres. The most recent innovation has been the creation of Lithium-ion batteries from scrap tyres.
