Nominees

Adele Rose

Tyrewise

Nominated for getting Tyrewise over the line in New Zealand – it took almost 15 years to get from the initial idea to something that the government backed. This was no mean feat, as the process involved dealing with conflicts in the tyre market both by suppliers and collectors, as well as negotiating with a range of politicians from changing governments. For many, it looked like Tyrewise was never going to get across the line, but thanks to Adele Rose and her team, New Zealand has its tyre stewardship scheme in place and operational in 2024.

Amy Brackin

Liberty Tire Recycling

As Liberty Tire Recycling’s senior vice president of sustainability, she has implemented Liberty’s industry leading environmental, social and governance programme across the company, including a commitment to zero waste by 2030. As a result of her work, it is claimed, Liberty is the leader in North America, collecting more than 200 million tyres each year and diverting 80% from landfills for recycling or secondary uses.

Christina Guth

AzuR Network

In 2020, Christina Guth laid the foundation for the Alliance for the Future of Tires (AZuR), which began as an innovation forum for End-of-Life-Tire recycling, supported by funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. As the AZuR Network Coordinator, Guth has successfully united over 80 stakeholders from all segments of the tyre recycling industry into a collaborative network dedicated to advancing a sustainable tyre circular economy across Europe. Beyond AZuR, Guth has established additional networks to promote tyre recycling: NEW LIFE Initiative: With eight partners, it champions climate-friendly material recycling of ELTs. ZARE Initiative: This network, involving certified ELT disposal companies, lays the groundwork for a sustainable tyre circular economy. Through her visionary leadership, Guth continues to drive innovation in tyre recycling, setting new benchmarks for sustainability and resource efficiency in Europe.

Ifedolapo Runsewe

Freee Recycle

Nominated for building Nigeria’s largest tyre recycling operation in a market where it is still easier to simply landfill or dump tyres in the wild. Runsewe has taken a small tyre recycling operation from the back streets to become a key recycler in Nigeria. Her example with Freee Recycle is taking the lead not only in Nigeria but much of West Africa. Free Recycle not only takes tyres off the streets, it also gives hope and employment to the staff it employs.

Isabel Lopez-Rivadulla

Signus Ecovalor

Described as being not only a great professional but also a very generous woman who is able to identify opportunities and create links between people to add value to materials from end-of-life tyres. In terms of communication, wherever she goes she always uses the End-of-life tyre as an example, making its applications known and she is capable of changing people’s opinions, and what they see as waste is now seen as something of value. In conclusion, she deserves this award because she is the best ambassador for End-of-life tyre recycling at European and American level. It is impossible to compile all the communication actions, forums, conferences, round tables, radio and TV programmes in which she has participated.
