Nominees

Contec

Nominated for proving their proprietary salt bed pyrolysis as a commercial operation. Contec has taken its proprietary technology from lab production to commercial scale and is in the process of expanding its operations. This is a remarkable development in the difficult field of tyre pyrolysis. Contec is now looking to expand its operations across Europe.

Genan

Nominated for reinventing its product line to address the loss of the crumb rubber infill market in Europe. Genan is the largest ambient tyre recycler in the world with operations across Europe and in the USA. One of its largest outputs has been crumb rubber, and Genan has taken strides in develoing alternative uses for crumb rubber in anticipation of the full ban on the use of crumb rubber infill in sports pitches.

Hi-Green Carbon

Hi-Green Carbon Ltd. has pioneered the recycling of waste tyres in India. It operates ELT processing plants, in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, India, which are geared to handle up to 60,000 MT of waste tyres annually. Hi-Green Carbon’s pyrolysis technology is 100% SCADA automated, ensuring efficient, safe, and highly consistent operations. Hi-Green Carbon Ltd. is deeply committed to energy efficiency and sustainability. A notable achievement is our installation of a 529 kW solar panel system. Having produced recovered carbon black since 2012, Hi-Green has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality rCB to a variety of industries international markets. With the expansion of its Maharashtra facility, Hi-Green’s products are exported to various countries.

Tyrecycle

Nominated for developing its capacity to handle tyres across Australia, but in particular in Western Australia. Tyrecycle has grown to be one of Australia’s largest tyre recyclers and is currently addressing the challenge of mining tyres and how to best recycle them rather than allowing them to go to landfill. Tyrecycle has gained considerable Federal and State support in the past year to grow its operations in light of the Australian ban on the export of whole tyres.

UK Rubber

Nominated for creating a recycling plant with the capacity to handle the bulk of Scotland’s tyre arisings and doing so against the challenge of exports. UK Rubber is the largest tyre recycler in Scotland and it takes a wider view of tyre collection than simply exporting. It processes and its sister company is evolving into pyrolysis operations.
