Geoff Fowler

Imperial College, London, United Kingdom

Dr Geoff Fowler has had a long-held interest in tyre recycling being involved in numerous tyre related projects, ranging from rubber powder as a substitute for sand in concrete, research into pyrolysis and latterly studying the technical properties of rubber crumb created by UHP water jetting. Fowler encourages his students to get involved and follows their research closely, and amongst the various papers Fowler has written, he has also contributed to Tyre and Rubber Recycling.

Gisele Jung

Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium

To anyone who has ever attended an ETRA conference, Gisele Jung will be a familiar face. Jung has specialised in pyrolysis for many years and has gone to great lengths to present the process as an opportunity for the recycling sector. Jung is highly respected in the pyrolysis sector as being completely independent and purely scientific in her approach to the subject.

Tire Industry Association

The Tire Industry Association offers what is probably the most comprehensive educational service for commercial tyre technicians in the world covering a range of training courses including everything from hands-on training and certification for experienced technicians all the way down to basic online training for new employees. As well as tyre technician training covering everything from car to earthmover tyres, the Association also provides leadership training for both retail and commercial tyre service managers and shop managers.

Univipal

Univipal is Vipal’s in-house university, which provides a comprehensive range of training options for the retreading industry. Training courses, available to Vipal customers across all continents, include both online courses and training at Vipal’s headquarters in Nova Prata, Brazil. Courses available in English, Spanish and Portuguese, include training courses for retreading operatives, courses on tyre repair and damage recognition as well as specialist sales training and tyre management courses.

Weibold Academy

The Weibold Academy is an element of Weibold consulting. Weibold Consulting gathers together a number of experts from the key markets around the world. The Weibold Academy offers regular workshops and tutorials on, amongst other things, pyrolysis. The aim is to educate potential clients and widen the understanding of tyre recycling. Whilst part of the Consultancy, the Weibold Academy offers some real world insights into tyre recycling that can make a real difference to the investor in the sector.
