Nominees

633 Tyres

Botswana

633 Tyres, based in Gaborone, Botswana, was founded in 2017 by Zimbabwean national, Paul Mlambo, who has nearly 35 years’ experience in the retreading sector. He was one of the first African retreaders to graduate from the Retread Manufacturers’ Association’s City and Guilds training course for retreaders and has been a keen advocate and promoter of retreading all his career. This year, despite having had a serious car accident, he has managed to expand his business with a subsidiary in his home country of Zimbabwe and is actively training his daughter to become involved in his business as it grows.

Autobahn Retreading

India

Autobahn Retreading is a retreader at Kochi, in the Indian State of Kerala. Autobahn started operations in August 2018 and is Marangoni’s first franchisee in India. Autobahn took the bold step of investing in Marangoni’s high-quality equipment to introduce RINGTREAD to the Indian market. Investing 3 times the usual amount in equipment compared to traditional Indian equipment, and selling RINGTREAD at a 50%+ premium to leading retread brands was a challenge as fleets were used to premature failures and low mileage from retreads. However, by adopting the lessons learned at their Toyota dealership a new level of precision was achieved and fleets experienced industry leading mileage, lowest failures resulting in possibly the lowest CPK in India. A notable achievement was introduction of ‘RINGTYRE’ – a complete retreading solution. The timeliness of this initiative made it an instant hit with poor quality Chinese TBR tyres, and in RingTyre fleets saw a viable alternative at a value price.

Budini Inc
