Meet The Winner

Mario Marangoni

Mario Marangoni was the founder of the Marangoni Group and remains Chairman of the Board of Marangoni Holding S.p.A. nearly seventy years after he founded the company which he led for the whole of his working life. Marangoni was at the helm of the company during its phase of major expansion throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, and he was instrumental of the development and launch of the RINGTREAD System, the system of cold retreading based on a precured tread ring for which the company is perhaps best known. He is member of the TIA Hall of Fame, holds an honorary M.B.A. degree from CUOA, the prestigious Italian Business School in Vicenza, and is a recipient of the Italian honorary title of “Cavaliere del Lavoro” or “Knight of Labour” in English, an honour bestowed by the President of Italy to only a select number of entrepreneurs who have contributed in a substantial way to the economic progress of Italy. Mario Marangoni has had a profound influence on the global retreading industry during his long career and is thoroughly deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Chen Jet How is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Kit Loong Group, which is known as being one of the pioneers of the tyre distribution and retreading industry in Malaysia. Mr Chen enjoyed a career that spanned over 60 years and oversaw the Group’s rapid growth from local retreader to international manufacturing and trading group. Some of his key achievements include and are not limited to: establishing its first retread plant in 1959, starting South-East Asia’s first tyre industry publication The Tyreman, overseeing the production of the country’s first precured truck retread and opening the Kayel tread rubber factory in Prai
