The Nominations Period is now closed and the 2025 Recircle Awards Nominees Shortlist will be announced on January the 22nd.

Nominees

Circtec

For gaining the investor backing to enable the building of the first at-scale pyrolysis project in Europe. Circtec has gained the funding that its competitors are struggling to find. It is constructing the first at-scale tyre pyrolysis plant in Europe, due to be operational in late 2025. Not only has Circtec secured the funding, it has also secured its feedstock by taking over Dutch recycler Granuband. This addresses the need for a long term feedstock supply that eludes many pyrolysis projects.

Circular Rubber Platform

Circular Rubber Platform is a knowledge and networking hub for rubber circularity set up to research raw materials and technologies on the market that could lower rubber’s impact on the environment. In January 2024, they an online community was created, with a database of materials, technologies, services and software that contribute to a circular rubber economy. Community members can attend webinars while the platform itself raises awareness on rubber circularity. The platform already has 199 individual members, 70 companies and 2 universities connected to the platform, from 19 different countries globally.

LD Carbon Korea

For taking the lead in the Pyrolysis sector in South Korea and gaining supply contracts with Sumitomo and others. LD Carbon has taken a lead in South Korea in developing a commercial tyre pyrolysis plant in a market that is more familiar with using tyres for energy. LD Carbon has successfully attracted funding to complete and expand its operations and is now supplying recovered Carbon Black to tyre manufacturers in Korea and Japan.

Pyrum

For taking the unique Pyrum technology from a pilot to full scale operation and sealing agreements to develop further plants. Pyrum’s process is unique, in that it uses electrically heated plated formed in a column to pyrolyse tyre materials. It has met all the challenges that the pyrolysis sector has come to expect and has consistently addressed each challenge and moved on to the completion of its first 20,000tpa pyrolysis plant. It has also signed agreements for further plants across Europe, the second will be at Perl Besch and will replicate the Dillingen Saar plant.

Rover Research

Rover Research has been very prominent in the market over the last couple of years. They have been nominated for developing and successfully launching their range of machines using waterjetting technologies.

Black Star

Black Star is a French passenger car and 4×4 tyre retreader. Today, under new management, the company has become extremely proactive in the French market, signing a deal with Mobivia to produce passenger retreads at the former Bridgestone plant in Béthune, France. The first tyres manufactured at the plant were launched earlier this year under the brand name Leonard.
