Nominees

Cima Impianti

Ecoline Presses

During 2024, Cima announced the launch of its upgraded Ecoline press range, which is segmented into three distinct offerings, each designed to enhance energy efficiency significantly within the retreading process. The first feature of the new press is its insulated cavity, ECOSHIELD, which directs all generated heat towards the tyre, maximising efficiency. The second feature is a shift from steam to induction heating, which offers the efficacy of an electrically heated press with half the power consumption. The third key feature is a separate nitrogen module HOT N2, which is tailored to benefit both the retread tyre industry and new tyre manufacturing.

Italmatic

Crater Tire CT 4.0 Double Skiving Robot

The Crater Tire CT 4.0 Double is equipped with a skiving robot to process defects on previously buffed casings. The robot, equipped with a gripper, loads the tyres fully automatically from the monorail, which independently sets up the hooks for gripping. The robot loads the tyre one at a time and inserts it first on the first tripod, the system starts to scan it by means of a sensor that identifies the defects on the crown. Once this has been done, the first internal robot will start processing it using abrasive tools, while the loading robot will take the second tyre previously positioned by the monorail and load it into the second tripod where the second robot, after performing a new scan, will process the defects.

Rigdon/Innok Robotics

Autonomous Vehicles

German retreader, Rigdon, in conjunction with Innok Robotics, has developed one of the first series of autonomous vehicles that can transport green tyres around the production plant on uneven floors.

Rover Research

Water Jet Technology

Rover Research has developed an innovative “Water Jet” technological platform for the “hot” retreading of worn-out tyres. Thes platform is characterised by an excellent quality-to-price ratio and a highly significant reduction in environmental impact.

Vaculug

Zeus AI Enhanced Production System

ZEUS is a state-of-the-art production system developed in-house by Vaculug over three years. Integrating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, this system advances the company’s operational capabilities and sets new industry standards.
